Today is Lily's 18th birthday!! Alles Gute zum Geburtstag, Lily! This morning we packed up our bags and boarded our bus to München. We stopped off at the Olympic Park to take a walk around and see the all of the different sports arenas. Once again the weather was warm and sunny. The girls all wore shorts!
Our next stop was the concentration camp, Dachau. We had a very knowledgeable guide, who was able to tell us lots of information about Dachau and about satellite concentration camps. The human cruelty is difficult to fathom. Nie wieder.
We had about an hour and a half to walk around München at our own pace and visit any shops or historic sites that we hadn't seen on our tour. We drove to the small Alpine village of Oberammergau and had a celebratory birthday dinner at the Zauberstube restaurant. The owner is also a magician, so he put on a little show for us with the students as participants. We had a lot of laughs! Off to bed because we have another full day tomorrow!
